"AI is all hype," said the CEO with 9 houses.

True story. I recently spoke to a CEO who dismissed AI as mere hype. With nine houses at stake, he might want to reconsider. AI isn't just a buzzword. It's reshaping everything.

Bold take: ignoring AI is irresponsible

To overlook AI's power isn't just shortsighted. It's irresponsible. Take healthcare. AI is diagnosing diseases with greater speed and accuracy than doctors. It personalizes treatments. It predicts patient outcomes with stunning precision. Shrugging off AI means missing life-saving advancements.

Or look at Apple. They use AI to elevate customer success and access. AI enhances both worker and consumer experiences. Ignoring those advancements means choosing to lag in operational efficiency.

These advancements shouldn't stop at technology improvements. They create new job opportunities and reskill workers. Healthcare professionals could oversee AI diagnostic systems. This ensures the technology is used effectively and ethically. Apple could reskill customer service representatives for customer relationship management, advanced technical support, or customer journey analysis. This enhances skills that directly impact customer satisfaction.

Every enterprise is deploying AI. Almost none can see the work they're deploying it into.

The repercussions of ignoring AI are far-reaching. They significantly impact businesses and society:

  • A looming skills crisis. As AI automates routine tasks, demand for traditional roles will diminish. This creates a skills gap.
  • Loss of competitiveness. Companies that fail to adopt AI fall behind. Others use it to enhance efficiency, innovation, and customer service.
  • Entire organizations becoming obsolete. Companies that don't adapt may find themselves unable to compete. The market is being reshaped by AI innovation.

That CEO who dismissed AI as mere hype is in for a rude awakening. He might lose all nine houses if he doesn't recognize AI's potential. This isn't about one CEO's wealth. It's about business survival and employee livelihoods. Companies that ignore AI are gambling with their future. And the future of their workforce.

Responsible take: use AI without leaving anyone behind

Executives and workforce leaders, it's time to reinvent the workforce. Keep pace with AI advancements. This means moving workers, retaining talent, fostering a growth culture, and integrating AI. Reskilling isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. Ensuring your workforce is equipped for meaningful, fulfilling careers is non-negotiable.

If I automate chaos, I just scale the chaos.

Leaders must educate and reskill their workforce. Not just for compliance. For the betterment of their employees. Ignoring this responsibility means leaving people behind. Parents, caretakers. Struggling to support their families and communities.

AI enhances jobs by eliminating mundane tasks. Employees focus on what they love and do best. Clinging to outdated processes holds back both people and organizations.
